Historical Poetry Assignment
Much like Shelley commented on the decline of King Rameses, you are going to write a poem about an important historical even that has happened in your lifetime. To channel your inner poet laureate, you will write the poem in a sonnet.
Different types of sonnets have different syllable requirements. For our purposes, we will create a 14 line poem with a rhyme scheme of ( a-b-a-b, c-d-c-d, e-f-e-f, g-g) and we won’t worry about a syllable count.
Prior to writing, make sure you have considered the following:
· What are the key elements of your event (who, what, why, where, when)?
· What impact or legacy did/will the event have?
· What perspective would you like to tell the story from?
